Why I Started This Blog

I’ve spent a lot of years messing with simple hobbies. Working on engines, taking pictures, standing around a grill at cookouts. Somewhere along the line I realized those were the things I looked forward to the most. They slow me down a little, keep my hands busy, and give me something worth remembering later.

This blog started as a place to keep all those moments together in one spot.

I’ve always liked learning by doing. In the garage you figure things out by turning wrenches and making mistakes until something finally works. Photography isn’t much different. You pay attention, try again, and once in a while you get something you didn’t expect. Cooking outdoors feels the same way to me. Every cookout teaches you something, even if the lesson is just what not to do next time.

Over the years I picked up a lot of small lessons like that. Nothing fancy. Just things you learn by living through them. After a while I started writing some of them down, along with the stories and pictures that went with them.

This isn’t a how-to site, and I’m not here to give expert advice. I’m not trying to impress anybody either. This is just my place to share the things I enjoy, the projects I’m working on, and the moments that stuck with me longer than I expected.

Some posts might be about something in the garage. Other times it might be a picture that means something to me, or a cookout with family, or just a story that came to mind for no real reason. That’s really all this space is supposed to be.

If something here reminds you of your own stories, then that’s about the best thing I could ask for.
